GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES

The island state of Dominican Republic is located in the middle and east of the island of Hispaniola between the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. About 10 million inhabitants live on a total area of about 48.730 km2. The capital is Santo Domingo. The official language is Spanish. The Dominican Republic is located in the time zone UTC -4 hours.

In the Dominican Republic divers can get to know a diversified underwater world. This offers various reefs, different wrecks, color-intensive corals and steep walls in which barracudas, eagle riffs, mantas or reef sharks have an ideal home.

The Dominican Republic offers every diver a chance to explore the underwater world. However, some regions are only suitable for experienced divers.

CLIMATE

The Dominican Republic is characterized by a tropical climate and is a popular tourist destination, due to the average temperatures of 27 °C to 30 °C, which can be visited all year round.

BEST TRAVEL TIME

The Dominican Republic can be visited all year round. The north offers excellent weather conditions from June to November, the other regions are very suitable from December to April.
